RECED Marketplace is a business directory that connects communities with member-owned businesses across the United States, Canada, and Nigeria. To keep the marketplace safe and trustworthy — especially now that businesses may list before they are verified — this Content & Moderation Policy explains what is not allowed, how to report a problem, what we do about it, how quickly we act, and how an affected business can appeal. It works alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
This policy governs all content and conduct on RECED Marketplace — business listings, profiles, messages between users, reviews, and any other material submitted to the platform. It applies to everyone who uses RECED: business owners, customers, and visitors, in every market we serve.
RECED is a directory and lead-generation platform. We help businesses and customers find and contact one another; we do not process payment for the goods or services offered. That does not lessen our commitment to removing harmful, deceptive, or illegal content.
2. Prohibited Content & Conduct
The following are not permitted on RECED Marketplace:
- Illegal goods or services: anything unlawful to sell or offer in the relevant market, including restricted or regulated items offered without required authorisation
- Fraud & scams: deceptive listings, advance-fee schemes, phishing, or any attempt to defraud another user
- Impersonation & misrepresentation: pretending to be another business, person, or organisation, or providing materially false business information
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): strictly prohibited and reported to the authorities on discovery
- Terrorist or violent-extremist content and credible threats of violence
- Harassment, hate speech, or abuse targeting individuals or groups
- Intellectual-property infringement: content that violates another party's copyright, trademark, or other IP rights
- Spam & manipulation: duplicate listings, miscategorisation, keyword stuffing, or fake reviews
- Circumventing platform safeguards: attempts to evade verification, moderation, or sanctions screening
3. How to Report a Problem
If you see a listing, message, or profile that may violate this policy, please report it by email to support@recedglobal.org. To help us act quickly, include a link to the listing or profile, a short description of the problem, and any supporting detail.
For urgent matters — content that is illegal, poses an imminent risk of harm, or is the subject of a legal removal order — please mark your email URGENT so it is escalated. We are building an in-product "Report this listing" option; until then, email is the way to reach our moderation team.
4. What Happens After You Report
- Acknowledgement: we acknowledge every report within 48 hours with a reference
- Human review: a person on our moderation team reviews each report — we do not auto-remove content on an unreviewed complaint
- Decision & action: if the content breaks this policy, we take the appropriate action (see Sections 5 and 6)
- Statement of reasons: when we remove or restrict content, we give the affected business a clear explanation of what we did, why, and how to appeal
We prioritise reports by severity. Our target response times are:
- Critical (illegal / imminent harm / legal orders): acted on immediately. CSAM and terrorist content are removed as soon as we become aware; legal removal orders are honoured within the deadline the order sets
- High (scams, impersonation, prohibited goods, materially deceptive listings): removed within 1 business day of a substantiated report
- Medium (spam, miscategorisation, duplicates, misleading-but-not-harmful): reviewed and corrected or removed within 3 business days
- Low (minor quality or edge-case issues): reviewed on a rolling basis, typically weekly
When the severity is unclear, we treat a report as more serious until we have assessed it.
Depending on the violation, we may:
- Remove or hide a listing so it no longer appears in the marketplace
- Suspend a business account, which hides all of that owner's listings and blocks new listings and new contact until the matter is resolved
- Restrict contact with a business that is under review
- Restrict content in specific markets where it is unlawful, while leaving it available where it is lawful
- Refer matters to law enforcement or regulators where required by law
These actions are recorded and are reversible where appropriate — for example, a suspended account can be reinstated if the issue is resolved or the decision is overturned on appeal.
If your listing or account is removed or restricted and you believe the decision was wrong, you may appeal.
- How: reply to the notice we send you, or email support@recedglobal.org with your reference
- Window: you have at least 6 months from the date we notify you of a decision to contest it
- Independent review: your appeal is decided by someone other than the person who made the original decision, promptly and fairly
- Outcome: if your appeal succeeds, we reverse the action. Where required, an out-of-court dispute-resolution option is also available
8. Legal Orders & Priority Handling
We comply with valid removal orders from courts and competent authorities within the deadline the order specifies. Certain categories are handled on the fastest tracks regardless of an ordinary report cycle:
- Child sexual abuse material is removed immediately on discovery and reported to the relevant authority (for example, NCMEC in the United States)
- Terrorist content subject to a competent authority's order is removed as quickly as the order requires — as little as one hour in some jurisdictions
- Copyright notice-and-takedown requests are handled under the applicable law (for example, the DMCA in the United States)
9. Where This Policy Applies
RECED serves the United States, Canada, and Nigeria, and may be accessed by users elsewhere. We apply a single, high global standard for moderation and add local requirements where they are stricter. Some specific rights and timelines — such as certain appeal periods or removal deadlines — depend on the laws of your country. Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under the law that applies to you.
We may update this policy as our services and the law evolve. Material changes will be reflected in the version and date at the top of this page. For questions about this policy, to report a problem, or to appeal a decision, contact us at support@recedglobal.org.
